\n\tEvan Rachel Wood<\/a> isn\u2019t feeling the excitement of the long-awaited Practical Magic<\/a> sequel<\/a>. The actress said she was \u201csad\u201d not to be asked to reprise her role from the original 1998 film. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt is sad, because we bonded with that cast so much as children, and so to miss out on the opportunity to look at that cast and look at that house as an adult and see the history in our eyes, it\u2019s something that can\u2019t be faked,\u201d Wood told\u00a0Entertainment Tonight<\/a> this week. \u201cI\u2019m sad that doesn\u2019t get to exist, especially for the fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the original movie<\/a>, based on Alice Hoffman\u2019s novel\u00a0of the same name, Wood played Kylie Owens, the eldest daughter of Sandra Bullock<\/a>\u2018s character Sally Owens. In the sequel, Kylie is being played by Joey King<\/a>. Earlier this month, Wood confirmed on Instagram that she\u00a0wouldn\u2019t be returning.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI am getting asked about this a lot, so l\u2019ll just clear it up now; I was not asked to come back and be in the\u00a0Practical Magic\u00a0sequel,\u201d she wrote. \u201cl offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line. I was told they are recasting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe sequel is adapted from Hoffman\u2019s 2021 book The Book of Magic, however Wood said she doesn\u2019t think the film, in theaters Sept. 11, will be accurate to the novel. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI read the book and it seems like they\u2019re not following the book,\u201d she told ET. \u201cI think in the book it would have made sense to bring me back; I think in the way they\u2019re redoing it and approaching it, it didn\u2019t make sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPractical Magic 2<\/a>\u00a0recast Sally\u2019s daughter Antonia, played by Alexandra Artrip in the 1998 film, with\u00a0Game of Thrones\u00a0star Maisie Williams. Cast members Nicole Kidman<\/a>, Dianne Wiest, and Stockard Channing are returning. Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman also returned (he wrote the original alongside Robin Swicord and Adam Brooks), co-writing with Georgia Pritchett.
