The Pittsburgh Steelers\u2019 starting offensive line during their first camp install period looked the same as it did one month ago during OTAs.<\/p>\n
Per our Alex Kozora<\/a>, from left to right the Steelers had Troy Fautanu, Mason McCormick, Zach Frazier, Spencer Anderson and Dylan Cook as their first offensive line unit to begin training camp.<\/p>\n First team OL in install period.<\/p>\n Fautanu-McCormick-Frazier-Anderson-Cook<\/p>\n \u2014 Alex Kozora (@Alex_Kozora) July 29, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n With Broderick Jones cleared to return, it\u2019s notable that the Steelers are sticking with Fautanu on the left side. Dylan Cook appears to have the upper hand over first-round pick Max Iheanachor for the moment at right tackle, while Spencer Anderson might have the inside track for the right guard job.<\/p>\n Anderson was thought to be competing against Brock Hoffman for the right guard job, but interestingly, Hoffman repped as the second-team left guard. Broderick Jones was the second-team left tackle, with Ryan McCollum at center, Steven Jones at right guard and Iheanachor at right tackle, per Kozora.<\/p>\n That means that third-round rookie Gennings Dunker likely has a lot of work to do in camp to factor into Pittsburgh\u2019s offensive line. He got reps as the third-team right guard, per Kozora.<\/p>\n While those were the initial groupings, things remain fluid with players taking reps in different groups. ESPN\u2019s Brooke Pryor noted<\/a> Iheanachor got at least one first team rep, while Brock Hoffman took some center reps with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.<\/p>\n Mike McCarthy said he was going to mix things up on the OL throughout camp. Couple of things I noticed \u2013 Brock Hoffman took a couple reps at center with Aaron Rodgers, first-round pick Max Iheanachor took at least one rep with first team at RT https:\/\/t.co\/masFntuLn3<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 29, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n Given that Fautanu and Mason McCormick initially flipped sides in OTAs, it might have been counterintuitive to flip them back, even with Jones returning. Jones missed a lot of practice time and time in the weight room, so it shouldn\u2019t be a surprise that he\u2019s opening camp as a backup. It also wouldn\u2019t be surprising if he remained as one heading into the season.<\/p>\n Fautanu played left tackle in college and has seen most of his reps there this offseason. After a strong 2025 season, he could be the future at left tackle for the Steelers, while McCormick remains next to him at left guard, also his college position. Dylan Cook is more comfortable<\/a> at right tackle after playing well at left tackle to end last season, while Iheanachor played on the right side in college.<\/p>\n The biggest position battles to watch will be if Anderson can hold onto the right guard job and whether Iheanachor can make enough progress to stake his claim on the right tackle job. It wouldn\u2019t be a surprise if he opened his career as a backup. Both Jones and Fautanu, also recent first-round picks, did as much, and with Cook\u2019s breakout last season, he very well could start at right tackle.<\/p>\n It\u2019s only Day 1, but the offensive line is going to be one of the most-watched groups for the Steelers throughout training camp. Today provides an interesting glimpse into how Mike McCarthy and co. view the talent at the unit.<\/p>\n
