LITTLE ROCK, AR (KATV) \u2014 The KATV Intern Olympics are rolling into day three, and the interns are still standing \u2014 if a little sweaty and slightly humbled by geography.<\/p>\n
Back in the studio, the group said they were feeling \u201cgood, pretty good,\u201d and, as one intern Catherine Spicer put it, \u201cWe\u2019re here. We made it.\u201d <\/p>\n
No one bailed on the competition either, with interns saying they planned to keep persevering.<\/p>\n
Day two featured a state-identification challenge. One intern who nailed the geography portion downplayed it, saying, \u201cHonestly, it wasn\u2019t too bad. I mean, I know I feel like geography\u2019s something that you don\u2019t always like talk about necessarily in college, but it\u2019s you know, hey, we did it.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked about his current standing in the multi-day event, Reggie Swinton II replied with a strong sense of optimism.<\/p>\n
“Well, you know…we’ll get up there…we’ll get up there.”<\/p>\n
Emma Beard celebrated a smaller victory: \u201cI went two for two. It felt good to get a win.\u201d<\/p>\n
The next event was a pre-recorded \u201cbreaking news obstacle course,\u201d following earlier challenges that included teleprompter and weather.<\/p>\n
During the course, interns had to race through a setup and deliver a mock breaking news script.<\/p>\n
The script they read included: \u201cBreaking news: Governor Sanders has declared a state of emergency across Arkansas. As we\u2019ve hit the fifth day in a row hitting temperatures of 100 degrees or more, residents are told only to go outside if they have to, and everyone is encouraged to stay hydrated. EMT officials will be stationed in each building to assist those who may suffer from heat-related illness. The state of emergency will remain in place until snow chances re-enter the forecast.\u201d<\/p>\n
A disclaimer made clear that the scenario was made up.<\/p>\n
