Tom Selleck is still frustrated by the cancellation of\u00a0\u201cBlue Bloods\u201d two years ago, as the iconic actor revealed the cast agreed to a shocking 25% pay cut before it was axed.<\/p>\n
\u201cBlue Bloods was a labor of love\u2026 I think for everybody,\u201d Selleck said during Wednesday\u2019s episode of \u00a0Ted Danson\u2019s podcast,\u00a0\u201cWhere Everybody Knows Your Name<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Selleck \u2014 who played New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on the CBS police drama \u2014 also revealed that the star-studded cast took the dramatic pay cut in hopes of returning for another season, calling the situation \u201cfrustrating.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe real truth to that is in the last year of [the series], at our last family dinner, everybody wanted to come back. We\u2019d already taken a 25% cut in salary,\u201d he divulged, insisting they\u2019d \u201cdone all sorts of things to keep the show going.\u201d<\/p>\n Still, CBS announced the cancellation of \u201cBlue Bloods\u201d in 2023, with the 14th and final season concluding in December 2024.<\/p>\n Tom Selleck, seen above in \u201cBlue Bloods,\u201d once again ranted about the show\u2019s cancellation. WireImage<\/p>\n Selleck claimed that \u201cout of the top 100 shows on broadcast television,\u00a0\u2018Blue Bloods\u2019\u00a0was number six in our fifteenth year.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNobody wanted to leave. Everybody was gonna stay on,\u201d he continued. \u201cThat\u2019s hard to get. It may be some kind of record to have the same cast intact for that length of time.\u201d<\/p>\n Selleck revealed that he enjoyed working on the show, which also starred Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan and Will Estes \u2014 among others.<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe people don\u2019t realize, but a lot of shows become miserable to work on,\u201d he told the \u201cCheers\u201d actor. <\/p>\n He added: \u201cYou get a lot of egos and \u2018I\u2019m not coming out of my dressing room until he\u2019s coming out\u2019 \u2026 and it\u2019s miserable.\u201d<\/p>\n The show concluded in 2024 after 14 seasons. So how do I feel? It\u2019s going to take a long time to sort all of this out.\u201d<\/p>\n Prior to that, in May 2024, he divulged that the loss of the show put him at risk of losing his Ventura County, Calif., ranch.<\/p>\n The actor, pictured above in 2017, has previously expressed frustration with the network over the show\u2019s cancellation. If I stopped working, yeah. Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!\u201d the \u201cFriends\u201d alum told \u201cCBS Sunday Morning\u201d at the time. <\/p>\n That same month, he ranted to Town & Country that the TV industry is \u201cconstantly in flux.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t want to sound like an old timer and say it\u2019s not as good as it used to be, but \u2026 I just don\u2019t see the development and belief in projects,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n At the time, the actor still had hope that the series wouldn\u2019t end. \u201cI still hold out hope that CBS will come to their senses,\u201d Selleck told the outlet.<\/p>\n In March, actor Mika Amonsen\u00a0of spinoff series \u201cBoston Blue\u201d \u2014 who has never met Selleck \u2014 said a cameo conversation with Selleck \u201cwas definitely there, for sure.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI would just be happy he was there,\u201d Amonsen told Page Six. \u201cI know how much fans want him to be on the show.\u201d<\/p>\n
