{"id":794666,"date":"2026-07-31T03:53:23","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T03:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/794666\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T03:53:23","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T03:53:23","slug":"officials-advise-caution-after-report-of-a-rabid-raccoon-that-attacked-a-man-in-south-jersey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/794666\/","title":{"rendered":"Officials advise caution after report of a rabid raccoon that attacked a man in South Jersey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Listen to article \u2022\u00a00:00 min<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Public health officials are advising South Jersey residents to be alert and avoid wild animals after a report of a rabid raccoon that bit a man in <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/topic\/gloucester-county\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gloucester County<\/a> last weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The Glassboro resident <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/6abc.com\/post\/2nd-raccoon-sought-rabies-positive-animal-attacks-glassboro-nj-man\/19593354\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/6abc.com\/post\/2nd-raccoon-sought-rabies-positive-animal-attacks-glassboro-nj-man\/19593354\/\">told 6abc Wednesday<\/a> that the wild animal charged him outside of his home and bit the front of his leg before being captured and testing positive for rabies. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Gloucester County <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/17jfs6c6Jc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/17jfs6c6Jc\/\">posted an alert on social media<\/a> Wednesday reminding residents to make sure their pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations and to avoid contact with wildlife.
