After reading the reported second quarter 2026 GDP value of 1.5% I became curious about where that puts the economy in a booming (dotard\u2019s hottest ever economy) or bust category.<\/p>\n
Well, going back one year\u2019s worth of quarters of GDP reporting:<\/p>\n
3Q 2025 = 4.3% (that super screwed up quarterly GDP responding to the tariffs, lots of pushed forward purchases)<\/p>\n
4Q 2025 = 0.5% (that super screwed up quarterly GDP responding to the epic shutdown and non-existent data collection, but yeah,really bad number)<\/p>\n
1Q 2026 = 2.1%<\/p>\n
2Q 2026 = 1.5%<\/p>\n
a recession is two consecutive quarters of lowered growth, only because of the 4q 2025 was so meager do we not have 3 consecutive quarters of declining growth \u2013 get on it economic reporters, if this geologist can see it, where are you?<\/p>\n
But you need inflation for stagflation, where is the US on that front?<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s the last year of the PCE:<\/p>\n
3Q 2025 = 2.8%<\/p>\n
4Q 2025 = 2.9%<\/p>\n
1Q 2026 = 4.6%<\/p>\n
2Q 2026 = 5.1%<\/p>\n
The last two, hardly any discussion about the magnitude of failure.<\/p>\n
Just for kicks, unemployment (yeah, not likely a legit number, but I am here):<\/p>\n
a steady 4.3% for the last year, up just slightly from the beginning of the term.<\/p>\n
If there were honest discussion\u2026 applies to everything thee days, it\u2019d be a run on sentence for sure.<\/p>\n
