Federal immigration authorities<\/a> in California have arrested a \u201cDancing with The Stars\u201d contestant from Latvia with a violent criminal past, the California Post has learned.<\/p>\n

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in San Francisco on Tuesday captured<\/a> Roberts Nemiro, a criminal illegal alien and former reality TV star, whose rap sheet includes arrests for sexual battery and assault. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Roberts Nemiro was arrested by ICE Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Nemiro was a reality TV star in his native Latvia. <\/p>\n

Nemiro, 43, was previously a contestant<\/a> on \u201cDejo ar zvaigzni!<\/a>\u201d, the Latvian version of the British TV series \u201cStrictly Come Dancing,\u201d also known as \u201cDancing With the Stars.\u201d<\/p>\n

ICE agents were tipped off on his location by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He competed on the Latvian version of \u201cDWTS.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThis illegal alien from Latvia\u00a0may have once had a career as a professional dancer on TV, but has turned into a career criminal, said\u00a0Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite California being a sanctuary state,\u00a0ICE was able to arrest this criminal and get him off our streets, and he will soon be deported from our country,\u201d said Bis.<\/p>\n

\u201cICE is\u00a0bringing\u00a0the curtain down on his illegal stay\u00a0and crime spree\u00a0here in the U.S.,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Nemiro first came to the United States on a visa in October 2011. He then illegally overstayed his visa after it expired in August 2012.<\/p>\n

Nemiro\u2019s rap sheet includes\u00a0convictions for\u00a0aggravated assault of non-family with a gun\u00a0and\u00a0disorderly conduct,\u00a0and\u00a0arrests for\u00a0battery, sexual battery, possession of controlled substance,\u00a0and\u00a0possession of paraphernalia.<\/p>\n

Nemiro is being held in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.<\/p>\n
