SAN ANTONIO \u2014 San Antonio artists unveiled The Bearer of Dangerous Truths on July 25, a large-scale community installation honoring those affected by last year\u2019s Kerr County floods.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody thought a piece like this wouldn\u2019t be possible without a giant budget,\u201d said Brian C. Gonzalez, the lead artist on the project. “But so many people have dedicated their time and efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the center, a monumental wave sculpture of reclaimed wood featuring projection mapping of thrashing waters crafted by UTSA Architecture and Planning students. Miniature ceramic sculptures of backpacks, teddy bears, and hoodies were layered into the wave and handcrafted by SaySi high school students.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The event also featured a performance from the Children\u2019s Chorus of San Antonio, with original music from the Composer\u2019s Alliance of San Antonio. The exhibit transformed SaySi\u2019s warehouse into an immersive experience of remembrance and hope. All created by students, artists, musicians, volunteers and local businesses, the installation was the result of countless hours of donated labor and materials.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt shows how San Antonio works from their hearts. We wanted to create something monumental and we did,\u201d Gonzalez said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bearer of Dangerous Truths will remain on display through the end of the year at the SaySi warehouse, located 1310 S.
