Sophia Forrester has revealed why she is \u2018terrified\u2019 of cheating on her boyfriend. <\/p>\n

The 24-year-old from Leeds is in the \u2018only healthy<\/a>\u2019 relationship<\/a> she\u2019s ever been in but keeps experiencing negative thoughts. <\/p>\n

She was diagnosed with relationship OCD<\/a> in December 2025 and says previous boyfriends have left her \u2018overthinking everything\u2019.<\/p>\n

After meeting her current partner in February 2025, she would have thoughts like \u2018what if I cheat?<\/a>\u2019, \u2018what if you\u2019re a bad person?\u2019 or \u2018do I actually love my boyfriend or am I lying to myself?\u2019<\/p>\n

Sophia said her brain would create worst-case scenarios \u2018even if I just looked at someone\u2019.<\/p>\n

The waitress ended up spending \u2018hours\u2019 on ChatGPT<\/a> to reassure herself and to help take those thoughts out of her mind. <\/p>\n

\"SophiaSophia Forrester, 24, was diagnosed with relationship OCD which left her ‘overthinking everything'(SWNS)<\/p>\n

\u201cI know deep down I would never cheat, as someone who has been cheated on it\u2019s the worst thing I\u2019ve ever experienced,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy brain is convincing me of these worst case scenarios.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith OCD it gives you a thought to protect against anything bad happening again.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike \u2018what if you cheat\u2019 or \u2018what if you\u2019re a bad person\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes I\u2019d go on a night out with friends drinking and the next day would be even worse.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy anxiety would be worse and then I\u2019d be like \u2018oh my god did I do anything wrong last night?\u2019 or \u2018am I a bad person?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Through therapy and medication, Sophia is now in recovery and is sharing her experience to raise awareness about Relationship OCD.<\/p>\n

\"SophiaSophia was diagnosed with relationship OCD in December 2025 (SWNS)<\/p>\n

\u201cI would analyse everything \u2013 even if I looked at someone I\u2019d think \u2018I\u2019ve just cheated on my boyfriend I shouldn\u2019t have looked at that person\u2019. It\u2019s awful,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cRelationship OCD has been acknowledged as a sub-type of OCD for many years now, it\u2019s just that recently there\u2019s been more awareness about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I\u2019m a lot better and I can go out or go to the gym and the thoughts are not as believable anymore.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen ROCD happens for the first time and you have no idea what it is. It\u2019s the most terrifying experience. I thought I was going insane and losing my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sophia says during the time she was single and dating her OCD \u201clatched on\u201d and focused more on her contamination OCD.<\/p>\n

\u201cI still wash my hands a lot now and I used to have different towels for different body parts because I was scared I\u2019d get a horrible disease,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel it\u2019s been a thing for most of my life but it\u2019s only up until now I\u2019ve noticed and acknowledged it.”<\/p>\n

Sophia first met her current partner in February 2025 and say she \u2018knew it was real\u2019, staying up all night chatting with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly at the start I remember cuddling him and thinking \u2018it all makes sense now, he feels like the right person for me\u2019,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

\u201cBasically I looked it up and when you get into your first healthy relationship all the trauma from the past resurfaces because it\u2019s a safe time to heal it.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy boyfriend had done nothing wrong, was nothing but loving to me but I had feelings of trauma and anxiety.<\/p>\n
