“It’s still amazing to think about where we’ve come,” Muraco reflected. “To be able to travel to Hawaii, play programs like Mililani, and provide these kinds of experiences for our players says a lot about what Liberty football has become.”<\/p>\n
The opportunity carries extra meaning for senior Rysen Dacosin-Arcala, who will enjoy a homecoming as he returns to Hawaii to play in front of family and friends. Dacosin-Arcala called the trip a special opportunity, saying he’s excited to share the experience with his teammates while representing Liberty in his home state.<\/p>\n
Senior Aiden Webster echoed that excitement, viewing the season opener as more than just another game.<\/p>\n
“Not many high school teams get the chance to travel somewhere like Hawaii to open the season,” Webster said. “It’s a great experience, but once we get on the field, it’s all about competing against one of the best teams we’ll see all year.”<\/p>\n
The matchup also brings back memories of Liberty’s memorable 2019 season, when the Patriots captured the program’s state championship. Since then, Liberty has continued to schedule challenging opponents in hopes of preparing for another championship run.<\/p>\n
Opening the year against a team expected to contend for a Hawaii state title provides an immediate measuring stick for the Patriots. Regardless of the outcome, Liberty believes the experience and level of competition will help shape the rest of its season.<\/p>\n
