{"id":804955,"date":"2026-08-06T20:16:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T20:16:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/804955\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T20:16:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T20:16:17","slug":"carplay-in-ios-27-adds-two-new-features-for-popular-apple-apps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/804955\/","title":{"rendered":"CarPlay in iOS 27 adds two new features for popular Apple apps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<img width=\"1600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/carplay-apple-music-ios-26-now-playing.jpg\" class=\"skip-lazy wp-post-image\" alt=\"\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CarPlay in iOS 27 has a <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/07\/22\/heres-everything-new-for-carplay-in-ios-27\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">handful of new features and improvements<\/a>, including two additions for some of Apple\u2019s most popular apps, like Apple Music and Apple Podcasts.<\/p>\n<p>CarPlay gives audio apps in iOS 27 new MiniPlayer and audio scrubbing features<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ios-27-carplay-miniplayer-audio.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1063674\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Outside of navigation apps like Apple Maps, the most-used category of CarPlay apps is audio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Audio apps like Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, and more are essentials when you\u2019re on the go.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And in iOS 27, Apple has two improvements coming for your favorite audio apps:<\/p>\n<p>MiniPlayer<\/p>\n<p>Audio scrubbing<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When using a CarPlay audio app, previously the top-right corner had a waveform icon you could tap to open the Now Playing screen. But in iOS 27, that waveform has been replaced by a new MiniPlayer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MiniPlayer features artwork for whatever\u2019s currently playing and offers play\/pause and skip controls. Thanks to this change, you can access basic playback controls while browsing other parts of the app outside of Now Playing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/audio-scrubber-carplay-ios-27.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1055756\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Audio scrubbing is new to CarPlay in iOS 27 too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">iPhone users are well accustomed to scrubbing through audio or video by tapping and dragging the playhead. But that\u2019s never been supported in CarPlay before now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In iOS 27 though, the playhead has increased in size and now supports scrubbing to quickly navigate through a podcast, audiobook, or song.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These changes apply to Apple\u2019s own CarPlay apps, but they should also extend to most third-party audio apps once they\u2019re updated for iOS 27 too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What additional audio app changes do you hope to see in CarPlay?
