(WKYT) &#8211; A central Kentucky organization is using golf to raise money for women, children and families across the Bluegrass.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/caddie127.org\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/caddie127.org\/\">Caddie 127<\/a> was first established as a fundraising arm for the Barbasol Championship, the PGA Tour\u2019s former stop in central Kentucky. After the tournament left the area, the organization continued its mission independently.<\/p>\n<p>More than a million dollars raised<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019ve been going strong for about 6-7 years now and we\u2019ve raised over a million dollars and this local tournament that we started in 2025 kind of gave us a whole new motivation,\u201d said Lauren Vernon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Inspired by the scripture James 1:27, Caddie 127 aims to support women, children and families in the region. The 2026 Caddie 127 Charity Classic, held at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, will benefit six organizations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They include:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">All God\u2019s Children<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Golisano Children\u2019s at UK<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Boone Brothers<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Sayre Christian Village<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Sunrise Children\u2019s Services<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Woodhill Community Center<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAt Keene Trace, we want it to be a mission field and we want it to impact lives,\u201d Vernon said.<\/p>\n<p>Sayre Christian Village among beneficiaries<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">One of the six organizations receiving support is Sayre Christian Village in Lexington, which provides housing, healthcare and other services to older adults.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe provide hope, housing and healthcare to older adults and the support that we get from Caddie 127 allows us to do that,\u201d said Karen Venis, of Chief Executive Officer of Sayre Christian Village.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Venis said the organization received approximately $20,000 from last year\u2019s event. This year, Sayre Christian Village is looking to use funds toward a renovation project that would improve housing for 98 low-income seniors on its campus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cTo be able to walk alongside with Caddie 127 with what their mission represents and what ours is just so impactful and very very special,\u201d Venis said.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrity lineup set for three-day event<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The three-day event includes a women\u2019s luncheon, golf and a celebrity party. Board member and former major league baseball player Doug Flynn said he called on his network to assemble this year\u2019s lineup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Thursday August 20-Gather to Glorify Luncheon<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Friday August 21-Grand Pairings Party Celebration<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Saturday August 22-Caddie 127 Charity Classic<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cPeople like D. Vincent Williams who wrote \u2018I\u2019m Moving On\u2019 by Rascal Flatts, Lee Thomas Miller who had \u2018In Color\u2019 who is from Nicholasville is coming in.
