And with it comes some much-needed recovery for the 38-year-old\u2019s ailing back that limited him throughout his 19th season<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cMy body\u2019s been really awful actually this year, so just to try and grind through it has been tough. The last two days have been pretty hard to try and get my body ready,\u201d admitted Day, who missed the last two events in Minneapolis and Detroit leading up to the regular-season finale this week.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a good streak obviously \u2014 I would have loved to keep the streak going, but things happen and you\u2019re not going to keep everything going forever,\u201d he added. \u201cBest to kind of take some time off, get my body sorted and try and come out next year and play well.\u201d<\/p>\n Day finished runner-up in his season debut at the American Express but failed to challenge for the winner\u2019s circle again. <\/p>\n He told Golf Channel\u2019s Ryan Lavner that his body was so sore that it hurts to hit a shot.<\/p>\n \u201cEven to put any energy into it hurts,\u201d he said after shooting 4 over through two rounds at Sedgefield Country Club.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s hard because how condensed the season is … there\u2019s nowhere to take time off,\u201d Day added. \u201cI probably should have listened to my body a little earlier and taken a good month or two months off but instead I tried to force it through and I\u2019m stuck with where I finished.\u201d<\/p>\n Day, who actually eagled the par-5 fifth on Friday, said he was not going to panic about his game heading into 2027. He is projected to fall outside the top 80 in points.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been out here a long time now,\u201d he said. \u201cI just need to take some time off, get away from golf from a little bit because it\u2019s really annoying me right now.\u201d<\/p>\n What lies ahead<\/p>\n
