Every friend group has one member who misses the memo. In this flock, that member is Dinky.

In the video, three ducks are waiting at the back door like they have arrived for attendance. Mom walks up, immediately notices the problem, and asks the only reasonable question: Where is Dinky?

The post caption makes it clear that Dinky has been abandoned again, and Mom’s reaction says this is not her first meeting with duck betrayal. She opens the door, interrogates the trio, and heads out onto the patio to find the missing member of the group.

There he is, walking in circles.

Not lost in a dramatic survival sense. More like: Dinky may not know where Dinky is, ” as one comment basically put it. Another viewer suggested the other ducks clearly have a group chat without him, and honestly, the evidence is strong. They made it to the door. He made it to a personal side quest.

Mom finds him, comforts him, picks him up, and brings him back to the flock while giving the other ducks a well-deserved lecture. She calls them out for being jerks, which feels appropriate. You cannot just abandon Dinky and act innocent at the back door.

To be fair, one commenter gently defended the flock by pointing out that Dinky does seem like he might be a handful. Also fair. He has strong “sweetest problem child” energy. But that’s why the internet is fully behind him. Dinky is confused, beloved, and clearly a very special guy. Sometimes family is three ducks who ditch you and one human who always comes back.

How To Keep Backyard Ducks Safe and Together

Ducks are social, but even social animals can get separated, especially when one Dinky goes wandering. The RSPCA’s pet duck care guidance is a good reminder that ducks do best with duck companions and safe routines.

Dinky may need a flock, but he also needs a personal assistant.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

Related: Couple Builds a Duck Houseboat, and Their Feathered Tenants Pay Rent in Pure Cuteness

This story was originally published by PawNation on Aug 8, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
