Foxes affected by the condition may have patchy fur or scabby skin and can appear thin or lethargic.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said residents should not feed foxes because doing so can draw the animals closer to homes and potentially spread disease. <\/p>\n<p>People should also not attempt to handle or treat a fox themselves; doing so is illegal without a permit.<\/p>\n<p>Pets and trash should be kept secured, according to officials. <\/p>\n<p>Foxes with strong immune systems reportedly may naturally recover from mange if the infection is not too severe.
