\u201cHanging out with a bunch of amazing people today down at the WB,\u201d director Zack Snyder posted on social media last week<\/a> along with a photo of himself on the Warner Bros. lot. The Matthew Hall song \u201cHome\u201d played over the post.<\/p>\n

The post certainly piqued people\u2019s curiosity \u2013 and perhaps stoked the hopes of those fans who support #RestoreTheSnyderVerse<\/a> \u2013 about why he was there considering Snyder had a bitter falling out with the studio in 2017 over Justice League, a notoriously troubled production<\/a> that ended the filmmaker\u2019s tenure as the architect of the now defunct DCEU<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As recently as 2021, the Man of Steel<\/a> and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice<\/a> director claimed Warner Bros. was \u201caggressively anti-Snyder,\u201d<\/a> saying the studio had not shown any interest in doing anything further with the SnyderVerse. <\/p>\n

\u201cSnyder received a \u2018hero\u2019s welcome\u2019 at the event.\u201c<\/p>\n

Snyder also said he was worried Warners would retaliate against him<\/a> if he supported his \u201cRelease the Snyder Cut\u201d fans<\/a> (some online fervor, though, was reportedly driven by fake accounts<\/a>). <\/p>\n

Zack Snyder\u2019s Justice League<\/a>, aka The Snyder Cut, was finally released on HBO in 2021. In his Snyder Cut review<\/a>, IGN\u2019s Tom Jorgensen hailed the movie as \u201ca surprise vindication for the director and the fans that believed in his vision<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

So what was Zack Snyder doing on the Warners lot last week? <\/p>\n

According to Page Six Hollywood<\/a>, Snyder was there to host a staff screening of the studio\u2019s 1981 Arthurian classic Excalibur<\/a>, which fans will remember was playing at the theater the night Bruce Wayne\u2019s parents were murdered in Batman v Superman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The site claims \u201cSnyder received a \u2018hero\u2019s welcome\u2019 at the event, spies said, as a full house of motion picture group employees and guests converged, some even standing for a Q&A between the Man of Steel director and studio bosses Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Page Six Hollywood says \u201cSnyder\u2019s inclusion certainly raised eyebrows, even if nearly all of the executives and creatives he battled to bring his 242-minute Zack Snyder\u2019s Justice League to the screen are long gone (several of whom secured their own related settlements). \u2018What are Mike and Pam thinking?\u2019 asked one current executive who lived through the tumultuous period when Snyder\u2019s fans harangued and targeted the studio.\u201d<\/p>\n

The site speculates that Snyder\u2019s return to the lot could also suggest Warners might be looking to get back into business with him, possibly distributing his planned remake of Escape From New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Snyder has previously said he would only ever make another DC film if it were an adaptation of Frank Miller\u2019s The Dark Knight Returns<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After the Justice League debacle \u2013 which saw Joss Whedon come in to reshoot and rework the entire superhero movie<\/a> \u2013 Snyder went to Netflix where he tried to launch his own multimedia franchise, Rebel Moon<\/a>, but the streamer later quietly dropped plans to move forward with any other Snyder projects<\/a>. Snyder also directed the movie Army of the Dead<\/a> and created the adult animated series Twilight of the Gods<\/a> for Netflix.<\/p>\n
