Major Russian digital wallet and payment service Yandex Pay said<\/a> Wednesday that its application had been removed from Apple\u2019s App Store.<\/p>\n

The removal means iPhone users in Russia can no longer download or update Yandex Pay. The app allows users to store cards, make contactless payments and split purchases across Yandex\u2019s suite of services.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Yandex Pay assured customers that their money remained secure and that the app would continue to function for users who already had it installed.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost importantly, don\u2019t delete the app,\u201d Yandex Pay said, urging users to turn off automatic updates and use its web-based version within mobile browsers instead.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re sad this happened too\u2026 We\u2019ll figure something out with the app,\u201d Yandex Pay said.<\/p>\n

Apple has not publicly commented on the removal, though it has delisted<\/a> apps linked to sanctioned Russian entities in recent months.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While Yandex Pay has not itself been targeted directly by Western sanctions, Yandex Bank was sanctioned<\/a> by the United Kingdom in June.<\/p>\n

Yandex Pay is still available for Android users on Google Play.<\/p>\n
