If you haven\u2019t spent time on one of these new patios yet, it\u2019s not too late. This season\u2019s additions include views of the river, downtown and a golf course or opportunities for a mimosa with brunch and a margarita with a burrito.<\/p>\n

Jack Rose Social Club<\/p>\n

Jack Rose Social Club opened its second Sioux Falls location in September at The Steel District downtown, so it never got a chance to take full advantage of the new patio before cold weather arrived.<\/p>\n

Now, it offers a late-night spot for \u201ctraditional cocktails with a modern twist,\u201d elevated American classics like steaks, burgers and fries \u2014 all with the sound of music from concerts at the adjacent Levitt at the Falls.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The restaurant is on the first floor of the building at 151 E. Fourth Place that combines retail spaces with condos and apartments and the development\u2019s parking ramp. It\u2019s owned by local Commonwealth Group, which includes Tinners Public House, Wileys and Deuces Casino.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe atmosphere downtown screams big-city destination spot with tons of activity and liveliness,\u201d said Cayden Lechner-Gerlach, beverage director.<\/p>\n

The patio can comfortably seat about 120 guests on a first-come, first-served basis, he said.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It includes counter seating at a bar that connects to the inside of the restaurant. There also is banquette seating, low- and high-top tables and high-top seating around two fire tables. The patio is surrounded by planters filled with red and white petunias, other flowers and greenery.<\/p>\n

Happy hour runs from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays and offers 25 percent off appetizers and signature cocktails and $1 off any glass of wine or draft beer.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Featured drinks for August include sharable cocktails like 100-ounce Monster Mules and pitchers of margarita and sangria \u2013 \u201cperfect for a night out on the patio,\u201d Lechner-Gerlach said.<\/p>\n

There also are still three Mondays to catch live music on the patio from 7 to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

Dogs are welcome.<\/p>\n

Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n

Rivage Oak Kitchen<\/p>\n

Rivage Oak Kitchen opened in late September in the original Cherapa Place building downtown, so this is its first full season to advantage of the patio that overlooks the Big Sioux River and Arc of Dreams sculpture above it.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s owned by Devon and Ashley Giesen and features a full liquor license and a menu with pheasant, bison and other local meats and fish.<\/p>\n

Happy hour features a small plates menu.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cOur walleye cakes and Fire Citrus Spritz is the perfect combo,\u201d Ashley Giesen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRivage Oak Kitchen\u2019s patio is one of those effortlessly perfect patio experiences,\u201d she \u00a0said. \u201cWhether you\u2019re looking to toast with friends, have a quaint date night and stroll along the river after, or stopping by for a quick drink, the upper and lower patios can host it all.\u201d<\/p>\n

With 11 tables, the patio can seat more than 50 people, she said. The chairs have cushions and arm rests, and there\u2019s also a lounge area with a firepit. The patio is on the west side of the building, which provides shade for part of the day, and most of the tables have umbrellas.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Dogs are welcome, and the restaurant offers water bowls for them.<\/p>\n

Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

Nunzios\/BlackFork Farms Tasting Room<\/p>\n

Nunzios and BlackFork Farms Tasting Room are new additions this year to the Cherapa Place development on the east bank of the Big Sioux River along Sixth Street.<\/p>\n

Nunzios is locally owned by Sense Hospitality, and the tasting room is a partnership with the distillery that\u2019s based near Brandt in eastern South Dakota.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re adjacent to each other on the first floor of The Dakota building, 310 N. Reid Place, which includes apartments on the upper levels.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The patios are on the north side of the building, next to the Cherapa Courtyard, \u201ccreating an atmosphere that feels both vibrant and relaxed,\u201d said Anna Fey, a member of the Sense Hospitality team. \u201cSurrounded by modern architecture and landscaped gathering spaces, it has the energy of a downtown destination while still feeling private and comfortable. Families especially enjoy watching their kids play nearby while they relax over a meal or cocktail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nunzios features Italian-inspired lunch and dinner menus with wood-fired pizzas, pastas, sandwiches and salads, and serves beer and wine. BlackFork Farms crafts bourbon, whiskey, vodka and gin, and the tasting room\u2019s head bartender creates cocktails from them. A menu of small plates offers nibbles to go with the drinks.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Patio diners are welcome to mix and match the offerings, Fey said. They can order a pepperoni pizza at Nunzios, walk over to BlackFork to buy an Old-Fashioned at BlackFork, and then enjoy both on the patios or in the courtyard, Fey said.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Nunzios has garage doors that can be opened to the patio, which has six four-top wood and metal tables, and BlackFork Farms has seating for eight at rattan-style four-top tables. Customers are welcome to spill over into the courtyard seating, Fey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll tables are located in shaded areas but can easily be moved into the sun if preferred, and our staff is always happy to help,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

There are still two Thursdays this month to enjoy live music in the courtyard from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. AMPT is a free weekly summertime offering from Cherapa Place and Downtown Sioux Falls Inc.<\/p>\n

Dogs are welcome on the patios if they are leashed and well behaved, Fey said.<\/p>\n

Nunzios hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. BlackFork Farms is open from 3:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 3:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

Legends Lounge & Grille<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t need to play a round of golf to enjoy the patio at the new clubhouse at Elmwood Golf Course.<\/p>\n

The patio overlooking the 18th hole is part of Legends Lounge & Grille, which opened in March at 2604 W. Russell St.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople have gravitated to the patio due it being covered but also because of the views that you don\u2019t get anywhere else in town,\u201d said Cat Clark, market general manager for Sioux Falls Golf, which operates the city-owned golf courses. \u201cFrom the golfers coming up the 18th fairway to the planes coming and going from the airport, there\u2019s no better place to relax with a cold beverage and a warm meal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The shaded patio features a mix of metal and cushioned seating at four-top tables for up to 65 people. There are two electric firepits, two TVs, speakers and fans.<\/p>\n

Legends has a full liquor license and a signature cocktail, The Wood, \u201cwhich is a twist on an Old-Fashioned, paying homage to Elmwood Golf Course,\u201d Clark said. \u201cWe also have our own beer, Legends Light, made by Fernson Brewing Co., which is very popular.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most unique feature of our drink menu is the build-your-own seltzer station. This is the first of its kind in Sioux Falls. With the popularity of seltzer drinks, this allows customers to create their own base, flavors and liquor if they choose.\u201d<\/p>\n

The food menu is \u201ca delicious mix of everything from shareables with friends or your favorite foursome to a more finer-dining experience for those date nights or special celebrations,\u201d Clark said. Popular items include the OG Smashburger, beef cheek, wraps and mac-and-cheese.<\/p>\n

Live music on the patio is offered every Thursday night through August.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Reservations can be made for the patio, and dogs are not on the \u201cpreferred\u201d guest list.<\/p>\n

Golf-season hours for Legends are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The restaurant will remain open year-round, and the firepits should help extend patio season into the fall, making it a great spot to watch televised football games, Clark said.<\/p>\n

Over Easy<\/p>\n

If day drinking is more your style, the new east-side brunch restaurant Over Easy can accommodate you.<\/p>\n

Over Easy opened in early June in a Dawley Farm Village retail center south of the movie theater. It\u2019s an Arizona-based chain that was franchised locally by the family that owns The Attic Restaurant Group with locations in Sioux Falls and Brandon.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The menu features breakfast classics with Southwest-inspired dishes like chilaquiles, rolled tacos and a skillet with eggs, chorizo, potatoes o\u2019brien, cheese, avocado, black beans, pico de gallo, green chile and green onion.<\/p>\n

The patio on the east side of the building at 5722 E. 18th St. seats 46 people at banquettes and cushioned booths for two or four diners. Most of the seating is covered.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Over Easy has a full liquor license, so there are \u201cBrunch\u2019tails\u201d like an espresso martini, bloody marys and a popular Brunch Punch with peach vodka, tropical fruit juices and sparkling wine.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cThe patio is a welcoming atmosphere for guests who wish to sit outside \u2013 even the four-legged friends,\u201d operating partner Cade Terveer said. \u201cWith a pergola done by Innov8, it gives plenty of shade, comfort and good vibes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

For a perfect patio pairing, he recommends a pitcher of Brunch Punch or a mimosa flight with the Golden Waffle Dogs, Avocado Toast or Cajun Hash.<\/p>\n

Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. The restaurant doesn\u2019t take reservations, but customers can use the Over Easy app to join the waitlist.<\/p>\n

Breaking Burrito<\/p>\n

The popular Breaking Burrito food truck \u2013 there actually are two of them \u2013 expanded in June to include a restaurant in Harrisburg.<\/p>\n

The restaurant at 480 Prairieside Trail \u2013 along the main east-west road through town \u2014 serves owner Carlos Salgado\u2019s \u201cCali-Mex\u201d food daily, with the bonus of breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

A second dining area that holds 60 customers features garage doors that open to a patio on the east side of the building that seats 40. It\u2019s shaded in the evening and umbrellas provide an escape from the sun at other times. The view includes a greenway that runs through the town.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Next year, Salgado plans to add a pergola over the patio and possibly a firepit with cushioned seating around it.<\/p>\n

At some point, he hopes to add evenings with a DJ and a ladies night. The second dining room includes a bar that could be put into use for events, he said. Breaking Burrito has a full liquor license, so the margaritas are made with tequila, not a malt base.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The patio is a great place to enjoy a shaded spot during happy hour with a margarita and an appetizer, Salgado said. Dogs are welcome on the patio.<\/p>\n
