\n\tWhen Taylor Swift<\/a> is inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame this fall, it will be the second institutional honor for her songwriting this year. She was inducted into the New York-based Songwriters Hall of Fame in June.<\/p>\n \n\tSwift, 36, is the youngest inductee in the history of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. She was the second-youngest inductee<\/a> in the history of the Songwriters Hall of Fame; Stevie Wonder<\/a> was just 32 when he was honored in 1983. (The two organizations are not related in any way, though they have common aims.)<\/p>\n \n\tSwift released a gracious statement on Tuesday when news broke that she will be among the 2026 inductees into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame: \u201cFrom the time I started writing songs as a child, I fixated on Nashville as the perfect place to be. I wanted to learn with and from the best and get to immerse myself in a community of storytellers, and thankfully, Nashville turned out to be exactly what I\u2019d dreamed of \u2013 a town that validated and prioritized hard work, determination and imagination. Where the writers show up to work every day even when the mysterious muses and the magic don\u2019t. To be honored by this city I love so much is a beautiful thing, and I\u2019m very grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tSwift will be the 42nd individual to be inducted into both of these Halls of Fame; and just the seventh woman.<\/p>\n \n\tLet\u2019s take a closer look at the seven women who have been recognized as great songwriters by both organizations. They are listed in chronological order by the date they received their second induction.<\/p>\n \tFelice Bryant<\/p>\n \n\tSHOF induction: 1986<\/p>\n \n\tNashville SHOF induction: 1972<\/p>\n \n\tKey songs: \u201cBye, Bye Love,\u201d \u201cRocky Top,\u201d \u201cSleepless Nights,\u201d \u201cWake Up Little Susie,\u201d \u201cWe Could\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tGrammy wins in songwriting categories: none<\/p>\n \n\tNotes: Bryant and her husband Boudleaux Bryant wrote some of the most memorable songs of the 1950s and 1960s. They wrote 80 songs before \u201cCountry Boy\u201d was recorded by Jimmy Dickens and became a big hit in 1949. With the aid of legendary publisher Fred Rose, the couple moved to Nashville in 1950. The team hit its stride in the late 1950s with a string of hits they wrote for the Everly Brothers. The Bryants\u2019 \u201cRocky Top\u201d is a state song of Tennessee. The couple was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1991. One of their sons, Dane Bryant, went on to operate the family publishing business. Another son, Del Bryant, became the president and CEO of BMI in New York. Felice Bryant died in April 2003 at age 77.<\/p>\n \tDolly Parton<\/p>\n \n\tSHOF induction: 2001<\/p>\n \n\tNashville SHOF induction: 1986<\/p>\n \n\tKey songs: \u201c9 to 5,\u201d \u201cCoat of Many Colors,\u201d \u201cI Will Always Love You,\u201d \u201cJolene,\u201d \u201cJoshua,\u201d \u201cLove Is Like a Butterfly\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tGrammy wins in songwriting categories: (3) \u201c9 to 5\u201d (best country song); \u201cGod Only Knows\u201d and \u201cThere Was Jesus\u201d (best contemporary Christian music performance\/song)<\/p>\n \n\tNotes: In 1967, Parton scored her first solo hits and began a partnership with Porter Wagoner. In 1973, as she was stepping away from that partnership, she wrote \u201cI Will Always Love You\u201d as a bittersweet farewell to her mentor. Her initial version of the song topped Billboard\u2019s Hot Country Songs chart in 1974. A second version, recorded for the 1982 movie The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, also hit No. 1. A decade later, Whitney Houston\u2019s soaring version of the song from The Bodyguard soundtrack became one of the biggest hits of its time. Parton was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. In 1960, at the encouragement of her husband, Oliver \u201cDoolittle\u201d Lynn, she began singing in bars. Just 12 years later, she became the first woman to win entertainer of the year at the CMA Awards. Lynn was known for presenting a strong, unfiltered female point of view. \u201cI wrote it like women lived it,\u201d she once said. With Conway Twitty, Lynn was half of one of country\u2019s most successful duos of the \u201970s and \u201980s, with No. 1 hits on Hot Country Songs such as \u201cAfter the Fire Is Gone\u201d (1971) and \u201cLouisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.\u201d (1973). In 2004, she won a new audience, thanks to Van Lear Rose, her Grammy-winning collaboration with Jack White. Her best-known works include Bob Wills\u2019 Western swing classic \u201cCherokee Maiden,\u201d Roy Orbison\u2019s shimmering \u201cDream Baby (How Long Must I Dream)\u201d and the exquisite torch ballad \u201cYou Don\u2019t Know Me.\u201d The latter song has been recorded by Ray Charles, Eddy Arnold, Elvis Presley, Van Morrison, Bette Midler, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris and dozens of others. Walker\u2019s first hit was \u201cLone Star Trail,\u201d recorded by Bing Crosby. She remained in Los Angeles for more than a decade, becoming a top writer for Western movie soundtracks and, beginning in 1941, for Bob Wills, who recorded more than 50 of her songs.
