Steve Mills ran Knicks basketball operations from 1999 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2020, and the Knicks missed the playoffs in all seven seasons after he returned. He went 61-154 as team president before James Dolan fired him in February 2020. Here are his 10 most damaging decisions, ranked.

I felt bad for Steve Mills once. It lasted about four seconds.

It was Nov. 10, 2019. After a 21-point loss to Cleveland, James Dolan demanded that Mills and general manager Scott Perry have an emergency press conference and explain that the front office wasn’t happy with the team. It was maybe the cringest moment in Dolan’s ownership. And that’s saying a lot.

So with the news breaking today that Mills has officially left the board of the Knicks and will move his “talents” to the New York Rangers, it made me want to go back in his solid tenure.

Steve Mills came to Madison Square Garden in 1999 and ran MSG Sports through the Isiah era. He left in 2009 once Donnie Walsh took over, and wouldn’t you know it, the Knicks made the playoffs in three of the four seasons he was gone. He came back in September 2013 as president and general manager, and they didn’t see the postseason again until James Dolan finally fired him.

In honor of him finally getting the hell away from the Knicks (for now), here are his 10 worst moves

Steve Mills ran Knicks basketball operations from 1999 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2020, and the…

[64
355,99
post-815010","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nba","tag-nba","tag-sports
["GET
