U.S. stock futures were little changed Sunday night, after the S&P 500 climbed for a third straight week though it ended Friday lower.<\/p>\n
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 11 points, or 0.02%. S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 0.1% and 0.2%, respectively. <\/p>\n
Asia-Pacific markets opened mixed Monday. Japan’s Nikkei 225<\/a> added 0.4%, while Australia’s benchmark\u00a0S&P\/ASX 200<\/a> was down 0.39%. South Korean markets were closed for a holiday.<\/p>\n Wall Street is coming off three consecutive weeks of gains for the S&P 500, which again notched fresh all-time highs last week following a blockbuster earnings season that’s buoyed investor sentiment. The stock market has continued to climb in the face of ongoing hostilities in the Middle East, as well as concerns around the artificial intelligence trade. <\/p>\n “Investors appear increasingly comfortable with the current backdrop, leaving the bears with fewer and fewer narratives to chew on,” Mark Hackett, chief market strategist at Nationwide, wrote on Friday. “The more tests that the bulls pass, the more emboldened they are to push equity markets higher.” <\/p>\n Investors are in for a week with fewer catalysts on the calendar, though the Federal Reserve posts its latest meeting minutes Wednesday. A slew of retail earnings are also on tap, with Walmart results due out Thursday. Home Depot and Lowe’s report Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. <\/p>\n On the economic front, investors will be watching for the August Empire State manufacturing index, as well as the NAHB Housing Market Index for August. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
