But not all grass is high-quality grass.<\/p>\n<p>The grass at Highmark Stadium drew mixed reviews in the preseason opener between the Panthers and the Bills.<\/p>\n<p>As one unnamed player told Tim Graham of The Athletic, \u201c<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7516007\/2026\/08\/16\/new-highmark-stadium-grass-field-issues\/?unlocked_article_code=1.51A.k1rB.0mDR8BNsWvBb&amp;source=emp_shared_article&amp;smid=ta-ios-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The field is ass right now<\/a>. But it\u2019s early.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Graham explains that one play resulted in a \u201cmassive clump\u201d of grass flying into the air \u2014 \u201croots, dirt, and all.\u201d Four players, including Bills quarterback Josh Allen, tried to stomp it back into place.<\/p>\n<p>Another player told Graham that the field was \u201csoft, but not in a good way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At least one Bills player spoke about the quality of the grass on the record.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe grass looked good,\u201d Bills linebacker Dorian Williams said, per Graham. \u201cIt was cool. A couple spots kind of chunked up a little bit, but it\u2019s better than playing on turf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And, yes, grass is better than turf.
