Three people killed in Dauphin County house fire, police say | Residents urged to avoid the area<\/p>\n

Three people are dead after a house fire in Dauphin County on Monday, according to the Lower Swatara Township Police Department. <\/p>\n

Emergency crews responded to the 500 block of Morgan Drive near Rosedale Avenue in Lower Swatara Township around 7:30 a.m. Investigators said the initial fire alarm call was followed by reports of smoke pouring from the home. <\/p>\n

When crews arrived, police said they found the house engulfed in flames, and responders were notified that people might be trapped inside. <\/p>\n

Firefighters found one person dead while battling the blaze but were forced to evacuate the home after the roof collapsed, according to investigators.<\/p>\n

After crews brought the fire under control, they reentered the home and found two additional victims, police said. <\/p>\n

The victims’ identities have not been released. <\/p>\n

Public asked to avoid the area <\/p>\n

Morgan Drive remains closed to traffic. The township and multiple fire departments are urging the public to avoid the area. <\/p>\n

“Due to an active structure fire on Morgan Drive, residents are asked to avoid the Rosedale Avenue area while emergency crews are responding and working on scene,” Lower Swatara Township<\/a> said. “Please use alternate routes and exercise caution if traveling near the area. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as first responders work to manage the incident safely.” <\/p>\n

The incident remains under investigation by the Dauphin County Coroner’s Office, the Dauphin County Forensic Team and the fire marshal. <\/p>\n
