\n A key Democratic lawmaker and 2028 hopeful\u2019s jab at a close aide to President Donald Trump has ignited a personal feud that could reverberate into a critical battleground midterm race.\n <\/p>\n
\n Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff, who is up for reelection in November, invoked the little-known, close aide to Trump during remarks Sunday in Atlanta as he railed broadly over whether the president actually wants to serve as commander-in-chief.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cWhile the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings, he golfs, and trades stocks,\u201d Ossoff said at a campaign rally.\n <\/p>\n
\n He continued: \u201cHe doesn\u2019t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar,\u201d referring to Natalie Harp, the president\u2019s executive assistant.\n <\/p>\n
\n Ossoff\u2019s audience cheered the attack, and commenters on X pointed particularly to his decision to invoke Harp.\n <\/p>\n
\n Asked about the Democratic senator\u2019s remarks, Trump on Monday compared Ossoff to Pee-wee Herman and told CNN\u2019s Kristen Holmes in the Oval Office that he would \u201cmuch rather do other things.\u201d He then pivoted to discussing the White House construction, saying that he was \u201cbuilding a great facility\u201d and extolling his East Wing project as \u201cmuch more than a ballroom.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
\n The White House had earlier took note of Ossoff\u2019s comments, blasting him from the press shop Monday morning.\n <\/p>\n
