The former Penn State running back was a late addition to the Huskers\u2019 roster, giving NU another experienced option in a running back room looking to replace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/emmett-johnson-145291\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emmett Johnson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/nebraska-cornhuskers\/join\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">***HuskerOnline Fall Camp Special \u2013 Get 75% off your annual subscription*** <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Hayes originally signed with Penn State out of Aliquippa (Pa.) High School as part of the Nittany Lions\u2019 2025 recruiting class before eventually making his way to Iowa Western.<\/p>\n<p>Hayes had been competing for a role this fall alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/mekhi-nelson-157270\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mekhi Nelson<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/isaiah-mozee-147162\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Isaiah Mozee<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/jamal-rule-248271\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jamal Rule<\/a> and the rest of Nebraska\u2019s running back room. In Saturday\u2019s scrimmage, Hayes took carries with NU\u2019s top offensive units.
