(Photo courtesy of YMCA of Orange County)\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" class=\"icon-enlarge mng-gallery-fullscreen-expand\" aria-label=\"Expand fullscreen slideshow\">Expand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The YMCA is coming to Santa Ana\u2019s South Coast Metro neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>The new health and wellness center opens Sept. 1, taking the place of another fitness center, LA Fitness.<\/p>\n<p>YMCA of Orange County has been working to update that 35,570-square-foot facility with a refreshed interior, new signage, equipment and amenities. It\u2019s expected to employ 55 people.<\/p>\n<p>Located not far from South Coast Plaza, the South Coast Metro YMCA will feature an array of workout zones, 65 group classes, an indoor pool with three lanes, a whirlpool and sauna, group and community programming and personal training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to bring the Y to this vibrant community in Orange County later this summer, a new environment for everybody backed by years of creating experiences where people can belong and feel valued,\u201d said Jeff McBride, chief executive officer at YMCA of Orange County. \u201cOur facilities are more than just gyms; they are health and wellness centers that are built with the needs of our community positively impacting spirit, body and mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The South Coast Metro Y also will provide a temporary facility to members while the Newport-Mesa Family YMCA undergoes a renovation, which is expected to start next summer.*<\/p>\n<p>The new gym, which features all new equipment, will be open seven days a week. Membership fees range from $39 monthly for seniors 65 and older to $52 for an adult or $74 for a couple. A family membership is $97 monthly and includes two adults and up to four dependent children up to age 23. The rehab facility includes specialized brain and spinal cord injury unit, an independent living suite and therapeutic and robot-assisted technologies for patients looking to get back to normal life at home.<\/p>\n<p>Chad T. Lefteris, president and CEO of UCI Health, said the hospital focuses on inpatient rehabilitation care for patients recovering from stroke, traumatic injuries and other serious conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Coming at a later date is a dedicated inpatient cancer rehabilitation unit, which will be managed by cancer rehabilitation physicians, who will work with cancer specialists and a team specializing in supportive oncology therapies.<\/p>\n<p>Other features include<\/p>\n<p>52 private rooms with a bathroom, shower, and small sitting area for family and visitors<\/p>\n<p>A brain injury unit with a dedicated space for therapies<\/p>\n<p>A large gym that takes up much of the fourth floor. Harbour comes with 30 years leading creative teams in San Francisco, Atlanta, Denver and Orange County, working for brands that include LG, Cisco, Coca-Cola and Thermador. Betley brings more than 20 years of experience in brand development, creative strategy, social content and copywriting. She has worked for Hilton, Kia, Dole and Toshiba, to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>On board<\/p>\n<p>Constance \u201cConnie\u201d Callan and Kimberly Pollard recently were appointed to the board of directors at Friendship Shelter in Laguna Beach.
