\n\tEXCLUSIVE:\u00a0Dan Perlman<\/a>, one of the creators and stars of Showtime\u2019s critically acclaimed comedy series\u00a0Flatbush Misdemeanors, has wrapped on the NYC shoot for an untitled coming-of-age comedy marking his feature directorial debut.<\/p>\n

\n\tStarring up-and-comers Romo Lee<\/a> (The Kindergarten Teacher) and Lucas Adler<\/a> (The Plague), the film is adapted from Perlman\u2019s award-winning short\u00a0Cramming, with a new plot. It follows two desperate eighth graders at an elite NYC prep school who recruit a crew of misfits to shut down their school, one day at a time, in hopes of evading finals forever.<\/p>\n

\n\tPerlman directed from his own script. Billed as\u00a0Ferris Bueller\u2019s Day Off\u00a0meets\u00a0Election, the film\u2019s cast also includes a murderer\u2019s row of stand-up comics, including Maria Bamford<\/a> (Lady Dynamite), Gary Gulman<\/a> (The Great Depresh), Jamie Lee<\/a> (Ted Lasso), Sean Patton<\/a> (English Teacher), and Yamaneika Saunders<\/a> (Life & Beth), plus Tony winner Laura Benanti (The Gilded Age) and Connie Shi (Law & Order).<\/p>\n

\n\tLucien Formichella and Charlotte Gilbert produced, with Charlotte Kassimir exec producing alongside Amer Hilal and Perlman. Selected for The Gotham\u2019s Project Market as part of Gotham Week\u2019s Shorts to Features track, with support from Rooftop Films\u2019 Filmmakers Fund, pic\u2019s cast also includes Jorie Blake Rosen, Matthew James Herman, Charlie Emerson, Vaughan Reilly, Sarah Mattle, Lissa Carandang-Sweeney, Ruby Karp, Napoleon Emill, Adam Gilbert, Tommy Bayer, and Greer Barnes.<\/p>\n

\n\tCo-lead Lee\u2019s only major prior credit is Netflix\u2019s drama\u00a0The Kindergarten Teacher\u00a0starring Maggie Gyllenhaal. Adler has previously been seen in Charlie Polinger\u2019s Cannes-premiering award-winner\u00a0The Plague. Lee is unrepped; Adler is with Coast to Coast and LBI Entertainment.<\/p>\n

\n\tPerlman co-created\u00a0Flatbush Misdemeanors with Kevin Iso, also writing and starring in the series, which held a rare 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating across its two-season run. He adapted the series from a prior zero-budget, Oscar-qualified digital short. Other credits include the shorts\u00a0Practice Space\u00a0and\u00a0No Sex; the latter has over 4 million views on YouTube. Most recently, Perlman directed and starred in the award-winning documentary short\u00a0Being Bubl\u00e9. Also a stand-up who has been featured on Comedy Central, he\u2019s with CAA and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.<\/p>\n
