{"id":81842,"date":"2025-08-14T09:31:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T09:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/81842\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T09:31:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T09:31:11","slug":"ketel-martes-ninth-inning-home-run-sorcery-is-not-a-fluke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/81842\/","title":{"rendered":"Ketel Marte&#8217;s ninth inning home run sorcery is not a fluke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ketel Marte has blasted game-winning home runs in the ninth-inning in back-to-back games against the Texas Rangers.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s something <a href=\"https:\/\/arizonasports.com\/arizona-diamondbacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Diamondbacks<\/a> fans have grown accustomed to over the last two years.<\/p>\n<p>Per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-almanac.com\/players\/home_run.php?p=marteke01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Baseball Almanac<\/a>, Marte has rocked 13 home runs in the ninth inning since 2024. It\u2019s the most in Major League Baseball, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Dbacks\/status\/1955751796439441519\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">D-backs X account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His latest outburst in Texas is reminiscent of his outburst on July 2 and 3 when he hit ninth-inning home runs in back-to-back games against the Giants.<\/p>\n<p>Marte\u2019s nine home runs in the ninth inning last season was one away from tying the all-time record of 10 set by Tony Batista in 2000 and Justin Smoak in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>While he most likely won\u2019t get to that number this season, it\u2019s nice to know the team has a leader who will not quit until the final out.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a list of all Marte\u2019s ninth inning home runs since 2024:<\/p>\n<p>April 16, 2024 vs. Cubs Adbert Alzolay<br \/>\nJune 2, 2024 vs. Mets Jake Diekman<br \/>\nJune 12, 2024 vs. Angels Matt Moore<br \/>\nJuly 24, 2024 vs. Royals James McArthur<br \/>\nJuly 29, 2024 vs. Nationals Kyle Finnegan<br \/>\nAug. 2, 2024 vs. Pirates Dennis Santana<br \/>\nAug. 4, 2024 vs. Pirates Jake Woodford<br \/>\nAug. 7, 2024 vs. Guardians Anthony Gose<br \/>\nSept. 21, 2024 vs. Brewers Joe Ross<br \/>\nJuly 2, 2025 vs. Giants Camilo Doval<br \/>\nJuly 3, 2025 vs. Giants Robbie Ray<br \/>\nAug. 12, 2025 vs. Rangers Danny Coulombe<br \/>\nAug. 13, 2025 vs. Rangers Phil Maton<\/p>\n<p>Marte has 24 home runs on the season, and 166 in his 11-year career.
