Veteran Christian metal band Demon Hunter have filed suit against Netflix, Netflix Studios and AEG Presents, citing trademark infringement, false designation of origin, and unfair competition. The claims relate to Netflix\u2018s 2025 hit animated series \u2018KPop Demon Hunters\u2018, which has spawned various trademark applications for merch and such in relation to the show\u2019s crossover into live events and more.<\/p>\n

Complex<\/a> obtained a copy of the complaint, which the band filed today, August 18th, in a Californian court via their operating corporation of Hyde Lane. According to Complex, the band have cited circumstances of brand confusion surrounding the band and the series.<\/p>\n

One example shared involved a fan of the series mistakenly purchasing $500 worth of tickets for a Demon Hunter concert in Albany, NY for themself and their five and 6-year-old daughters under the presumption they were attending a \u2018KPop Demon Hunters\u2018 show. Said fan realized their mistake and sought out a refund.<\/p>\n

Demon Hunter formed in 2000 and have been an active band since with twelve studio albums to their credit and countless tours undertaken. The group are seeking a jury trial in this dispute and argue that ongoing overlap in the same fields from the two entities could lead to considerable consumer confusion and improper associations between the animated series and the band.<\/p>\n

The group are seeking to have their \u201crightful interests\u201d restored in regards to the trademark.
