{"id":821045,"date":"2026-08-21T13:52:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T13:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/821045\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T13:52:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T13:52:10","slug":"aaron-wan-bissaka-west-ham-united-defender-joins-aston-villa-on-loan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/821045\/","title":{"rendered":"Aaron Wan\u2011Bissaka: West Ham United defender joins Aston Villa on loan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/aston-villa\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aston Villa<\/a> have completed the signing of West Ham defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on a season-long loan deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Villa&#8217;s move for the DR Congo right-back includes a &#8220;conditional obligation to buy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The exact terms are not known, with West Ham having previously asked interested clubs to pay a \u00a325m fee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Last season, Villa signed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/liverpool\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a> midfielder Harvey Elliott on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy for \u00a335m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, the deal was only set to be made permanent if Elliott played 10 league games and, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/cdxp0dwe1nno\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">featuring in just four<\/a>, he returned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/liverpool\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a> this summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Wan-Bissaka missed Championship club West Ham&#8217;s first two matches of the season during negotiations for a return to the top flight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 28-year-old joined West Ham on a seven\u2011year contract from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/manchester-united\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manchester United<\/a> in 2024. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He has made 65 appearances across his two seasons at the club, including 25 last season when the Hammers were relegated to the Championship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He previously played 190 times for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/manchester-united\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manchester United<\/a>, winning the League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Wan\u2011Bissaka started all four of DR Congo&#8217;s matches at the 2026 World Cup, helping them progress to the round of 32.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He could feature in Villa&#8217;s first game of the season at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/brighton-and-hove-albion\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brighton<\/a> on Sunday (14:00 BST) and will also compete in the Champions League after Unai Emery&#8217;s side finished fourth and won the Europa League last term.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Aston Villa have completed the signing of West Ham defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on a season-long loan deal.
