Sydney Sweeney’s take on future Spider-Woman,\u00a0Julia Cornwall, might have been one of the only good things about 2024’s Madame Web. Either way, the movie, widely considered one of the worst Marvel adaptations ever, did nothing\u00a0to slow her momentum in Hollywood.<\/p>\n
After headlining\u00a0Anyone but You with Glen Powell, Sweeney shrugged off Madame Web with impressive performances in\u00a0Immaculate and The Housemaid. Her return as Cassie Howard in the final season of Euphoria got everyone talking, and she’s now heading back\u00a0to the blockbuster realm with the upcoming Gundam movie.<\/p>\n
Rumours continue to swirl about Sweeney potentially joining the MCU and DC, with Black Cat and Emma Frost among the many roles she’s been connected to in recent years.<\/p>\n
Now, Sweeney is turning heads with an Instagram post that sees her suit up as Wonder Woman. In a gallery of shots shared on social media, we see the actress put on an eye-popping display as Diana Prince (she even sees some action across a floating obstacle course).<\/p>\n
While she doesn’t look much\u00a0like Diana, Sweeney is a dead ringer for Emelie, the rogue Amazon in Tom King’s Wonder Woman run who gives birth to the villainous Matriarch.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s always fun to be able to be a part of something that\u2019s bigger than yourself,”\u00a0Sweeney previously said of Madame Web.\u00a0“I hadn\u2019t done a studio film yet, and I had started my production company [Fifty-Fifty Films]. I had some properties that I really wanted to be able to take out to studios, and I needed to be able to get my name to have more value, within a studio household.”<\/p>\n
“Doing a project like that really helps you on in the market. I also wanted to be able to do something that my cousins can watch. I have a bunch of little teenage cousins, and they don\u2019t really understand what I do,”\u00a0she continued.\u00a0“I thought it would be so cool to be able to do something that they\u2019d actually think was fun and cool.”<\/p>\n
When it was put to her that\u00a0Madame Web\u00a0was a critical and commercial flop, Sweeney\u00a0responded,\u00a0“I mean, I had a really fun time, so that is all that matters to me. I think that if you are enjoying what you do, it doesn\u2019t really matter what the outcome is, on a box-office level. Of course, you want the film to be celebrated and loved and successful, because then everyone succeeds.”<\/p>\n
