I\u2019ve been ahead of the game frequently and, if you\u2019re ahead of the game, you\u2019re an influencer. So I\u2019m not a filmmaker, I\u2019m an influencer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tScott, a three-time Oscar-nominated director, has certainly flexed his influence throughout his years in Hollywood with immortal classics like \u201cBlade Runner,\u201d \u201cAlien,\u201d \u201cThelma &amp; Louise,\u201d and \u201cGladiator.\u201d Earlier in the sit-down, he noted there are things he has yet to cross off his career checklist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve never done a Western,\u201d he said. \u201cI have cast Hugh Jackman for my \u2018Treasure Island\u2019 adaptation. I want to do a musical and, also, have a marvelous film about the African elephant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tScott\u2019s next film is \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/the-dog-stars\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-dog-stars\" data-tag=\"the-dog-stars\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Dog Stars<\/a>\u201d with <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/jacob-elordi\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jacob-elordi\" data-tag=\"jacob-elordi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jacob Elordi<\/a>, Margaret Qualley and Josh Brolin. He deemed his leading man Elordi \u201ca big star\u201d and said they \u201cgot on great.\u201d He went on to imply that the reason he directed \u201cThe Dog Stars\u201d was because he sensed tedious sameness in the type of stories coming out of Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cLook, everything now is about a murdered girl in the woods, or an FBI agent who is better than anyone else \u2014 or a superhero,\u201d Scott said. \u201cFuck me! There have to be other stories to tell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tScott will soon <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/awards\/glenn-close-ridley-scott-governors-awards-honorary-oscars-1236771529\/\">receive an honorary Oscar<\/a> at November\u2019s Governors Awards.
