The case starts on Monday, August 31 \u2014 five days before Colorado\u2019s first game of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n<p>Deion disputes the notion that the situation will be a distraction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/49716171\/deion-sanders-says-subpoena-not-distraction-colorado\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Do you think that\u2019s my first subpoena?<\/a>\u201d Sanders told reporters on Monday, via the Associated Press. \u201cWhen you have \u2018it,\u2019 when you\u2019re \u2018him,\u2019 you get sued. You have off-the-field foolishness that if someone really sat down and explained it to you, you would say, \u2018You\u2019ve got to be kidding.\u2019 But it is what it is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know anyone that\u2019s a game-changer, a way-maker, that is not dealing with some type of lawsuit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s right, on one level. People with money become targets for litigation. But, at another level, he\u2019s wrong; successful persons who don\u2019t dance on the line of potential liability don\u2019t get sued \u2014 unless the claim is truly frivolous.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Deion isn\u2019t a defendant in the case for which he has been subpoenaed to testify. He is, however, facing a separate lawsuit regarding the development <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/deion-sanders-has-been-quietly-dealing-with-a-lawsuit-over-his-prime-logo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">of his \u201cPrime\u201d logo<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Colorado coach Deion Sanders is under subpoena to testify at a trial involving his son, Shilo.
