Green Bank Elementary-Middle School in Pocahontas County is now allowed to use wi-fi for the first time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The school\u2019s location near the Green Bank Observatory meant it was previously unable to have wi-fi because of the National Radio Quiet Zone.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It has now gotten the green light to finally install wireless internet, more than 25 years after the technology was introduced.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Green Bank Observatory officials say the quiet zone regulations were adopted in the late 1950s, long before anyone could have predicted the modern technology needs of today.\u00a0<\/p>\n
