Koepka was allowed to play in PGA Tour events immediately, but was ineligible for signature events, made a $5 million donation to charity and is restricted from equity in the PGA Tour for a period of time.

Rolapp later reiterated that the PGA Tour hasn’t made any decision should LIV players inquire about a soft landing and will be consistent in upholding the organization’s long-standing values when it does.

“Accountability and discipline are essential to any organization, and certainly for the integrity of the tour and for the game, especially in a game that prides itself on rules and integrity,” Rolapp said Tuesday during his news conference previewing the Tour Championship. “Rules matter. Again, I’ve been very public that I want to do what’s best for the PGA Tour.”

Rolapp’s comments come just days after LIV conducted its final tournament of the 2026 season in Indianapolis, with no promises that the league will exist beyond the calendar year. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil is facing a possible bankruptcy, an unfinalized agreement from a new investor and intense player discontent behind the scenes as he attempts to launch a LIV 2.0.

Is this the end for LIV Golf?

Brody Miller

Rolapp also spoke about the PGA Tour’s new model: A two-tiered tour system with the reimagined Tour Championship being a two-week match-play finale at elite venues not seen on the PGA Tour in recent history.

“I think fans are clear where they want to see the best golfers competing week in and week out,” Rolapp said. “Our competitive model that we’ve been working on is an attempt to get closer to that standard.”

Koepka, who played on LIV from 2022 to 2025, left the breakaway league and went to the PGA Tour hoping for a return in January. At the time, the PGA Tour extended that deal to three other players — Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith — and gave them three weeks to decide.

If any of those golfers were hoping there was still a table with that offer on it, they’ll be disappointed.

Rolapp said Tuesday that players will first be required to be completely relieved of contractual obligations to LIV before conversations with the PGA Tour can begin. Koepka set this precedent.

“I think it’s unclear what we’re reacting to, but any player who is here needs to demonstrate that they’re completely free of any tail obligation for some time,” Rolapp said.

Even if the PGA Tour requires LIV golfers to serve out their one-year suspensions from the last LIV tournament, many of those affected are either currently DP World Tour members or could qualify to participate in tournaments on that circuit. Enough success there would allow them to return to the PGA Tour in 2028, whether on the Championship or Challenger Series. Currently, the top 10 in the DP World Tour season-long standings earn PGA Tour cards, but it’s all subject to change in the PGA Tour’s new era.

Patrick Reed left LIV shortly after Koepka and was ineligible for the returning member program, since it was specifically for recent major champions. This season, Reed has played on the DP World Tour and is currently No. 1 in the Race to Dubai rankings.

ATLANTA — PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp made it clear Tuesday that there are no current plans in…

[71
427,99
post-825648","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-golf","tag-golf","tag-sports
["GET
