SWNS<\/p>\n<p>Neither Lisa nor her family knew what it was, but there is an annual meteor shower that occurs each summer and often appears in spots across the US.<\/p>\n<p>According to NASA, the Perseid meteor shower is active from mid-July to late August, peaking around August 12-13, and is viewable from the Northern Hemisphere.<\/p>\n<p>It happens when Earth passes through dusty space debris left by the comet Swift-Tuttle.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.77777778;display:block\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"40498093\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/swsmmeteor-ottilie-von-henning-two-138466551.jpg\" alt=\"A bright, burning meteor streaks across an evening sky.\" class=\"wp-image-40498093\"\/>According to NASA, the Perseid meteor shower is active from mid-July to late August, peaking around August 12-13, and is viewable from the Northern Hemisphere.
