{"id":826035,"date":"2026-08-26T03:56:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T03:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/826035\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T03:56:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T03:56:09","slug":"socialite-libbie-mugrabi-says-shes-not-going-to-lose-her-home-in-court-ordered-auction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/826035\/","title":{"rendered":"Socialite Libbie Mugrabi says she&#8217;s not going to lose her home in court-ordered auction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Libbie Mugrabi has no intention of losing her home.<\/p>\n<p>A judge has ordered the mansion to be sold in an auction from the steps of Southampton town hall on August 28 to recoup a $3.5 million loan the socialite took out against it.<\/p>\n<p>But Mugrabi tells us the sale isn\u2019t going to ahead \u2014 because she\u2019s working on getting another loan to square things up.<\/p>\n<p>But she put it in the patented Mugrabi style.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is not a court-ordered sale. [That\u2019s] fake news. We agreed to settle and I need a little more time as I fired my broker,\u201d said the colorful Uptown figure, who finalized her divorce from billionaire art dealer David Mugrabi in 2020. Dave Benett\/Getty Images for Libbie Mugrabi<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m in the process of refinancing\u2026 I\u2019m in the middle of doing a loan\u2026 I can\u2019t sell it,\u201d she said, \u201cMy brokers are no good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She listed the home \u2014 which she kept in the divorce \u2014 in May for $25 million. It was dropped to $19 million soon after, but still didn\u2019t sell.<\/p>\n<p>Then last month a court ordered it to go on the auction block with bids starting at $11 million.<\/p>\n<p>When we called Libbie \u2014 who married the art world scion in 2004 \u2014 about the debacle, she said she had to rush off the phone because \u201cmy hair extension lady is here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then she tried to put her colorist on the phone with us. \u201cTell [Page Six] what are you doing,\u201d she told the hair pro, \u201cYou have to tell him. He\u2019s a reporter. He might put this in the story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After finishing up with her hair appointment, Mugrabi called back 20 minutes, assured us she\u2019s a \u201creally nice person\u201d and inexplicably proclaimed, \u201cI really get along with Black people. Clark for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>Mugrabi believes the art world has wronged her.  xoxolibbie\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Despite her cries of \u201cfake news,\u201d her home is still scheduled to be auctioned at 11 a.m. on the steps of Southampton Town Hall on Aug. 28, as of Thursday afternoon. Her lawyers will appear in court the day before the auction to ask for more time to pay off her debt.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u201dI\u2019m not afraid. I\u2019m a business woman. I did a bad business deal and that\u2019s it. This media circus has destroyed the sale of my house\u2026 I\u2019m hoping for justice in the court,\u201d she concluded. <\/p>\n<p>In May, critic and artist Anthony Haden-Guest sued Libbie, claiming that she has been displaying nearly  100 of his cartoons at the Southampton home for 15 years, even though he\u2019s asked her a number of times to give them back.
