{"id":826116,"date":"2026-08-26T05:42:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T05:42:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/826116\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T05:42:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T05:42:14","slug":"lindale-alligator-spotted-in-lindale-parks-water-amid-summer-heat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/826116\/","title":{"rendered":"Lindale alligator spotted in Lindale park\u2019s water amid summer heat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">TYLER, Texas (KLTV) &#8211; A trip to Faulkner Park in Lindale will get you some quiet time in the East Texas Pines. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Just watch out for the gator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhen I got here, I was like, \u2019There\u2019s an alligator in there?\u201d said Police Chief Brent Chambers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Chambers says the alligator keeps to itself, wandering the waters at the 170-acre park for about 15 years, locals say. They\u2019re not sure where he came from, though the Sabine River is very close to the park. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cDo not feed or disturb the alligators\u201d signs can be found near the pond, put up in 2017. Chambers said two baby alligators were relocated about ten years ago. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cPeople started feeding the two little ones. And so they started coming up and getting too friendly,\u201d said Chambers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The gator, which is believed to be female, stays in deeper water when it\u2019s colder, Chambers said. Its head has been spotted above the water in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Alligators are a protected species in Texas.
