The tournament runs Thursday through Sunday at TPC Boston and the high level of competition is brought on by its sparkling reputation.

“The girls love coming to this event,” said Rockland native Megan Khang, who is an FM ambassador and is playing in her third FM Championship. “It’s a tournament that you don’t want to miss, so it’s really cool to see that a lot of the top players are coming.”

The purse of $4.4 million — up from $3.8 million in the tournament’s inaugural year in 2024 — is the sixth largest on this year’s LPGA Tour schedule, trailing only the JM Eagle LA Championship ($4.75 million) among non-majors.

Players receive significant perks for their participation, including complimentary hotel rooms, flight vouchers, courtesy cars, and Uber gift cards. FM also provides a $1,000 stipend to golfers who miss the cut, helping to offset some of the upfront costs golfers face.

It’s all part of FM’s effort to make New England’s LPGA Tour stop one that players “will come back to year after year,” said Dave Johnson, FM’s senior vice president and chief client experience officer.

“FM elevates the game, right?” Korda said. “They elevate the player experience. When you talk about [the] purse, too, it’s one of our larger purses, as well. That usually always draws a bigger field.

“But it’s also about the way that they treat their players. And we know that FM has invested a lot into the LPGA, and we want to show up for them as they’ve shown up for us.”

Korda is the marquee star. Her four wins this season, including two majors, are more than any other player, and she has 10 top-10 finishes in 14 starts.

All that winning has earned her $6.2 million this year, bringing her career total to $22.3 million — just $269,328 from passing Annika Sorenstam to become the career leader on the LPGA Tour.

Korda could break that record, one Sorenstam has held for more than 25 years, with a third-place finish or better this week — an attainable result given her history of dominance.

Korda is joined in the field by other big names, including world No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul, No. 3 Haeran Ryu, young superstar Lottie Woad, and 11 of the 12 players on the United States Solheim Cup team.

Two Massachusetts natives — Khang and Alexa Pano of Westborough — are in as well.

Khang, who on Monday was named a captain’s pick for the Solheim Cup, has made the cut in both previous FM Championship appearances, finishing tied for 35th in 2024 and tied for 24th in 2025.

While she has only played TPC Boston a handful of times outside her FM Championship appearances, Khang is relishing the opportunity to compete in her home state. She chose to stay at her house — adding a few minutes to her commute to the course — rather than accepting the free hotel room FM offered.

“It’s always considered a home game if you can sleep in your own bed,” Khang said.

Khang, 28 and in her 11th year on Tour, has struggled this season, making just nine cuts in 17 starts. Her best finish was tied for 12th at the Mizuho Americas Open in May.

So if sleeping in her own bed gives her a leg up against one of the toughest non-major fields this season, she’ll take it.

Emma Healy can be reached at emma.healy@globe.com or on X @ByEmmaHealy.
