\n\tPhoebe Bridgers<\/a> performed an intimate cover of Nirvana<\/a>\u2018s 1991 classic \u201cLithium\u201d for the BBC<\/a> Radio 1 Live Lounge. The singer recorded her appearance on the show earlier this month, only hours before being hospitalized for appendicitis<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tAppearing with a guitarist, Bridgers also showcased her own song \u201cBobby,\u201d which comes off her new album Lost Weekend<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this month, Bridgers was forced to reschedule several U.K. shows after being diagnosed with appendicitis. \u201cI got appendicitis for my birthday,\u201d she wrote on Instagram. \u201cEverything in the U.K. this week will have to move but I\u2019ll make it up to you!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough Bridgers hasn\u2019t previously covered Nirvana, her band boygenius<\/a> did recreate<\/a> the rock band\u2019s iconic Rolling Stone 1994 cover image in 2023. The group also joined forces<\/a> with Dave Grohl<\/a> for a live performance of \u201cSatanist\u201d at the Hollywood Bowl in 2024. Grohl was notably meant to play on the group\u2019s album The Record, but he missed the session. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere was this missed connection where Dave was actually going to come to the studio and play on [The Record],\u201d Bridgers recounted. \u201cThen he slept through it or whatever, and we didn\u2019t end up meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBridgers released her third studio album,\u00a0Lost Weekend,\u00a0on Aug. 14, her first solo project in six years since the 2020 release of\u00a0Punisher.\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0writer Angie Martoccio gave\u00a0Lost Weekend\u00a0four-and-a-half stars, calling the album a \u201cspectacular song cycle on love and loss.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBridgers makes up for the last several years (you might call it lost time)\u00a0by giving us her longest and most daring record yet,\u201d she\u00a0writes in her review<\/a>. \u201cA tour de force in the art of disappearing, falling in love, and feeling grief so deeply that waking up every day kind of sucks.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
