We\u2019re about a week away from the 2026 FIBA Women\u2019s Basketball World Cup in Berlin.<\/p>\n
The Liberty have more than a handful of confirmed players across five nations for the tournament, which runs Sept. 4-13.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s a tracker of confirmed players on the Liberty roster who will pack their bags and compete for a gold medal. We\u2019ll also highlight players projected to make the squad and those who aren\u2019t participating in the international games.<\/p>\n

Breanna Stewart headlines a star-studded Team USA roster<\/a> set to take aim at a fifth consecutive women\u2019s World Cup title. She becomes one of just three U.S. players to appear in at least four World Cups (Sue Bird, 5; Diana Taurasi, 4) after being selected for the 2026 FIBA tournament.<\/p>\n Stewart is set to depart for Berlin after the Liberty\u2019s home game against the Chicago Sky on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n FRANCE<\/p>\n Pauline Astier and Marine Johannes will play on a French National Team<\/a> who are favorites to medal in the competition. The European power is looking for revenge after suffering a heartbreaking one-point loss against Team USA in the gold medal game of the 2024 Paris Olympics.<\/p>\n \u201cLosing by [one point in the Olympics] was something huge for us [and] French basketball in general. Also, the result on the men\u2019s side was really good,\u201d said Johannes, referencing the French men\u2019s national team\u2019s loss\u00a0in the gold-medal game to USA in the 2024 Olympics. \u201cThink we are using that\u2026 we want to keep pushing, keep working all together. I think now we are finding a good chemistry with players and also staff. I think we understand [each other more].\u201d<\/p>\n Johannes said her flight to Berlin is on Saturday evening \u2014 hours after the end of the Liberty-Sky matchup.<\/p>\n CHINA<\/p>\n Han Xu will report to the Chinese National Team, the center told the Daily News recently.<\/p>\n Her upcoming World Cup appearance comes on the heels of the center helping the nation to a bronze medal in the 2025 Asia Cup.<\/p>\n GERMANY<\/p>\n Leonie Fiebich, who had her World Cup participation in question due to a left foot injury, returned to action and is set to play for the host nation. She confirmed her attendance to German media this month.<\/p>\n Fiebich will depart to her home country after Saturday\u2019s Liberty game, per Liberty head coach Chris DeMarco.<\/p>\n SPAIN<\/p>\n Raquel Carrera, who averaged 9.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in the World Cup qualifying tournament, is on the Spanish roster, she told The News.<\/p>\n Carrera is set to leave New York Saturday evening.<\/p>\n The national team has yet to make a formal roster announcement, but Carrera said the squad will consist of four other WNBA players: Toronto\u2019s Maria Conde, Seattle\u2019s Awa Fam, Portland\u2019s Megan DiLeo (formerly known as Megan Gustafson), Washington\u2019s Alicia Florez.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we have a good team,\u201d Carrera said.<\/p>\n UNCONFIRMED<\/p>\n Liberty developmental player Elizabeth Balogun, who signed with the team earlier this month, hasn\u2019t publicly stated her status.
