Metro Detroit has chance to see partial lunar eclipse Thursday night<\/a><\/p>\nPartly cloudy to mostly clear skies across Metro Detroit should provide favorable viewing conditions.<\/p>\n
Beautiful Friday for baseball and football<\/p>\n
Friday brings plenty of sunshine and comfortable late-August weather. Temperatures around 60 degrees at the morning bus stop will climb into the upper 70s by late afternoon, with a high around 80 degrees.<\/p>\n
The pleasant conditions continue into Friday evening, making weather a nonfactor for two big sporting events in Detroit.<\/p>\n
Cass Tech faces Michigan City in the Local 4 Game of the Week at Wayne State University. The 7 p.m. kickoff should feature temperatures in the mid-70s, falling into the upper 60s around halftime and mid-60s for the drive home.<\/p>\n
At Comerica Park, the Detroit Tigers host the Los Angeles Dodgers with first pitch scheduled for 6:40 p.m. Temperatures should be in the upper 70s at the start of the game, falling through the 70s during the evening.<\/p>\n
Rain is not expected for either event.<\/p>\n
Heat builds next week<\/p>\n
Saturday remains pleasant and dry with temperatures around 80 degrees, but the pattern begins changing Sunday.<\/p>\n
Warmer and increasingly humid air will move into Southeast Michigan, pushing highs into the mid-80s Sunday. <\/p>\n
Most of the weekend should remain dry, although a few spotty showers could develop on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The heat becomes more noticeable as the new workweek begins. <\/p>\n
High temperatures could reach 90 degrees Monday and Tuesday and remain in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n

Those readings would be roughly 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.<\/p>\n
The increasingly warm and humid air mass will also bring additional opportunities for showers and thunderstorms through the middle of next week. <\/p>\n
The timing and coverage of individual rounds remain uncertain this far out.<\/p>\n
Tropical Storm Dolly forms<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, another named storm has developed in the Atlantic.<\/p>\n
Tropical Storm Dolly had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph Thursday afternoon and was moving quickly west at 24 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. <\/p>\n
Dolly was about 1,425 miles east of the Leeward Islands as of the 5 p.m. AST advisory. <\/p>\n
Dolly is not expected to become a hurricane. Increasingly hostile atmospheric conditions should weaken the system, with the National Hurricane Center forecasting Dolly to lose its tropical characteristics before reaching the Leeward Islands.<\/p>\n
Even so, Dolly\u2019s moisture could become more consequential than its winds. <\/p>\n
Heavy rainfall could reach the Leeward Islands late Saturday into Sunday before spreading toward the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Hispaniola Sunday and Monday. <\/p>\n
Flash flooding will be possible, particularly in mountainous terrain. <\/p>\n
There are currently no coastal watches or warnings in effect.<\/p>\n
Back in Metro Detroit, the immediate forecast is considerably quieter: comfortable weather through Saturday, followed by a return to summerlike heat and humidity as August gives way to September.<\/p>\n
