Nestl\u00e9\u2019s latest GLP-1 strategy suggests that what started as a supplement-industry opportunity is becoming a much broader nutrition category.<\/p>\n
The Swiss MNC is, for example, using AI to accelerate research, product development and consumer analysis. <\/p>\n
Other major players are tapping into the trend, too. Last year, biosolutions maker Novonesis and healthcare company Novo \u2060Nordisk announced a partnership<\/a> to study whether microbiome-targeted supplements can enhance the effectiveness of GLP-1 weight-loss medications. <\/p>\n Children\u2019s supplements have transcended the traditional multivitamin tablet, with brands now offering a range of formats to target specific health needs rather than general wellness.<\/p>\n Parents increasingly have non-negotiables for products, such as expecting immune support as a must-have, according to FrieslandCampina Ingredients.<\/p>\n In terms of product formats, while gummies remain the anchor of the market, growth is showing up in several smaller formats, such as tinctures (+81.7%), lozenges (+44.7%), sprays (+31.6%) and capsules (+15.9%).<\/p>\n Eye health supplements are evolving the familiar lutein-and-zeaxanthin story, with recent launches reflecting a more segmented category shaped by blue light culture. <\/p>\n Specifically, companies are pairing familiar carotenoids with omega-3s, B vitamins, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, hydration-support ingredients and even habit-building technology.<\/p>\n Japanese firm YURU Co Ltd, for instance, introduced its LUTE VITA eye supplement containing LUZvision liposomal lutein, as well as astaxanthin, coenzyme Q10, low molecular weight hyaluronic acid and collagen peptides etc. <\/p>\n Hair growth supplements are one of the fastest-growing categories in the beauty-from-within market, a trend increasingly linked to the rise of GLP-1 drugs.<\/p>\n Public interest in the association between GLP-1s and hair loss has increased markedly, following emerging data from pharmacovigilance studies and recent clinical trials linking alopecia with weight loss drugs. <\/p>\n A recent study published in the British Medical Journal, for instance, found that the use of GLP-1 receptor agonists was associated with an increased risk of incident alopecia in adults with type 2 diabetes<\/a> compared to two other diabetes drugs. <\/p>\n Fewer Foods with Function Claims hit the Japanese pharmacies and supermarkets in FY2025, but the market size still grew by 4%, according to a new industry report. <\/p>\n The Consumer Affairs Agency, which oversees FFC and other health functional products in Japan, received 1,176 new FFC notifications in FY2025.
