(KCAL\/KCBS) \u2013 A California man is facing charges after his son was injured while riding a modified e-motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A dash camera recorded the moment the 12-year-old Yorba Linda boy ran a red light on an e-motorcycle and collided with a car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The child went airborne and slammed onto the cement, fracturing his skull and breaking his leg.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"The child went airborne and slammed onto the cement, fracturing his skull and breaking his leg.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/NVDWNG4WYNEI3H6JNDD34GXPFA.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>The child went airborne and slammed onto the cement, fracturing his skull and breaking his leg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The crash resulted in criminal charges against the boy\u2019s father, Richard Eyssallenne.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Eyssallenne\u2019s preliminary hearing was held Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The 40-year-old is accused of felony child endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">An interview with Eyssallenne at the hospital, shown on a sheriff\u2019s deputy\u2019s body-worn camera, is some of the evidence being used by the Orange County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cHe\u2019s only supposed to stay in the neighborhood right there,\u201d Eyssallenne told the deputy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The district attorney said Eyssallenne helped his son unlawfully modify an e-motorcycle to make it go faster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The minimum age to operate an e-motorcycle is 16, and a driver\u2019s license is required.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Deputies said they cited the middle school student a year before the 2025 crash for illegally riding an e-motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The boy, his younger brother and his father went to an e-bike safety seminar afterward, and the motorcycle was impounded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Deputy Kiana Lewis responded to the recent Yorba Linda crash and testified at the preliminary hearing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Lewis contacted Child Protective Services after the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI felt that, based off of all the information that I had, that they needed to be involved because the same e-bike was involved in two separate incidents, and it was brought to my attention that maybe there wasn\u2019t sound decision-making,\u201d Lewis testified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Eyssallenne has pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">If convicted of all counts, Eyssallenne faces up to six years in state prison, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCAL\/KCBS via CNN Newsource.
