For affected users, this means your PC will restart in both September and October when it updates. The change will start to affect users ten days from now, with the release of the forthcoming September Patch Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Per <a class=\"color-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.neowin.net\/news\/microsoft-hotpatch-pcs-will-force-restart-to-apply-windows-updates-for-the-next-two-months\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.neowin.net\/news\/microsoft-hotpatch-pcs-will-force-restart-to-apply-windows-updates-for-the-next-two-months\/\" aria-label=\"Neowin\">Neowin<\/a>, the September \u201cforce restart\u201d is the change \u2014 the October restart is the usual quarterly cycle. \u201cAfter these PCs restart following the application of security updates in September, they will remain enrolled for future hotpatch updates. Windows Latest does assure that \u201cuninstalling the Windows Update fixed it for everyone who tried.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are other August issues for Windows 11 users to contend with, including \u201ca DISM error, 0x800f0915, when trying to repair their system image after installing the update.\u201d You\u2019re unlikely to be affected, as the number of user reports circulating thus far remains low.
