Right after Connor Zilisch fell off his car\u2019s roof<\/a> on Victory Lane last weekend, people immediately assumed NASCAR would ban the practice. We admittedly thought that\u2019s what was coming since there\u2019s a past precedent. Then a wave of reports came that the organization<\/a> had in fact officially banned the beloved tradition. But those seem to have been wildly inaccurate.<\/p>\n

This impressive car collection from a NASCAR team owner is just sitting abandoned.<\/a><\/p>\n

NASCAR itself just issued a press release dispelling the rumors<\/a> that it won\u2019t let victorious drivers climb up onto their cars to celebrate. While Zilisch broke his collarbone doing just that, it seems cooler heads have prevailed.<\/p>\n

After all, freak accidents are a part of life. A lot of people die in the shower, but that doesn\u2019t mean you stop bathing. Instead, you take precautions, then get on with life.<\/p>\n

It seems that\u2019s exactly what NASCAR is doing. Instead of telling drivers<\/a> to get off their cars, officials will just be paying attention to what\u2019s going on with the window net during celebrations.<\/p>\n

That makes sense. After all, it was the net that caused Zilisch to slip and fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that was part of the problem that the window net was flapping on the outside,\u201d NASCAR managing director of communications Mike Forde said during the latest episode of the \u201cHauler Talk\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Connor even said that may have been a problem, and one of our safety guys actually mentioned the same thing. So, we may do just sort of a check to make sure that if that\u2019s inside the car, it\u2019s one less thing you can slip on.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other words, NASCAR is being downright reasonable. Honestly, we\u2019re shocked. After all, back in 2001 the organization tried using \u201cThe Gate\u201d to keep drivers from climbing onto their roof, something which only worked for a few races.<\/p>\n

We were fearful \u201cThe Gate\u201d or something worse was about to be unveiled. Instead, officials will be keeping their eyes on window nets. We can live with that.<\/p>\n
