\n\tThe first feature-length animated Pok\u00e9mon movie in years is set to hit theaters in 2027.<\/p>\n
\n\t In partnership with Japanese animation studio CloverWorks, Pok\u00e9mon: Wild Card was announced during Sunday night\u2019s closing ceremony of the 2026 Pok\u00e9mon World Championships, in San Francisco. <\/p>\n
\n\tA short teaser featuring a trading card game player and a ghostly Pok\u00e9mon named Mimikyu also was released. You can watch it below.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe film tells the story of a Pok\u00e9mon TCG player and his partner Mimikyu. When the time comes to put their cards on the table, will they have what it takes to achieve their goals? <\/p>\n
\n\tThe character Mimikyu first appears in the 2016 video games. Pok\u00e9mon Sun\u00a0and\u00a0Moon. Mimikyu covers itself in an old rag painted to look like Pikachu because it is lonely and wants to be loved like the famous mouse. Its actual body under the disguise is a black blob with two round eyes, and it moves by dragging its body along the ground.\u00a0Mimikyu hates bright sunlight and prefers to stay in dark, hidden places. Mimikyu has since appeared in multiple games and the\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Trading Card Game, as well as the\u00a0anime adaptation\u00a0of the series where it is voiced by Billy Bob Thompson.<\/p>\n
\n\tIn the teaser, we get a quick glimpse of Mimikyu dressed in a yellow hoodie. The clip reveals the film is coming in 2027 \u201cand beyond\u201d which indicates there\u2019s even more on the horizon.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe most recent\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon\u00a0movie,\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, was released in 2020 in Japan and the following year in the U.S.<\/p>\n
\n\tDisney+ recently greenlighted\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch\u2019d & Pichu<\/a>, a new stop-motion series as part of a global distribution deal with\u00a0The Pok\u00e9mon Company International<\/a>.
