T-Maximum Pharmaceutical<\/a>\u2019s investigational chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy, MT027, received Fast Track Designation from the U.S. FDA.<\/p>\nThe FDA\u2019s decision applies to an indication to treat recurrent glioblastoma. MT027 previously got Orphan Drug Designation from the FDA for treatment of recurrent high-grade glioma. At that time, the FDA authorized T-Maximum to conduct a Phase II clinical study of MT027 in recurrent glioblastoma.<\/p>\n
What T-Maximum CAR-T Therapy Does<\/p>\n
MT027 targets B7-H3, an immune checkpoint molecule that has garnered significant interest in recent years in solid tumor drug development. T-Maximum says antibody-drug conjugates, antibody therapeutics, and cell therapies are all in development.<\/p>\n
According to T-Maximum, recurrent glioblastoma is among the most demanding settings in which to test cell therapies\u2019 solid tumor capabilities. Among the problems to be solved: delivering cells to compartments associated with the central nervous system. This, while addressing\u00a0in-vivo\u00a0persistence of allogeneic cells.<\/p>\n
Why FDA Action is Important<\/p>\n
With that backdrop, T-Maximum says the Orphan Drug and Fast Track designations, plus the Phase II clearance, further MT027\u2019s momentum.<\/p>\n
