Tiger Woods changed his plea to no contest for the reduced charge of careless/reckless driving on Wednesday in a south Florida court.

Woods initially plead not guilty to the charge of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to testing following a crash in March near his home in Jupiter, Fla., that involved another vehicle.

Neither Woods – who attended Wednesday’s hearing with his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, President Donald Trump’s former daughter-in-law – nor the driver of the second vehicle were injured. Woods agreed to take a Breathalyzer test, which was negative, but refused to take a urine test.

The minutes from Wednesday’s hearing note that this is Woods’ second reckless driving offense and his driver’s license was suspended for five years. Woods also had to pay $1,961 in court fines and fees.

Woods has been involved in multiple car crashes, including a 2021 accident in Los Angeles when he flipped his SUV and was severely injured.

At the time of his arrest in March, Martin County Sheriff’s deputies noted Woods’ movement was “lethargic and slow” and his eyes were “bloodshot and glassy.”

According to court records, Woods left the United States to seek treatment at an inpatient treatment facility. In a statement released on social media, he said he was “stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.”

Woods last played a PGA Tour event in 2024 at The Open Championship, although he has been an active member of the circuit’s Future Competitions Committee and attended a press conference in June alongside Tour CEO Brian Rolapp to announce the circuit’s new competitive model.
