Howell beat out Milton for the backup job to Prescott.<\/p>\n<p>Milton served as the No. 2 last season.<\/p>\n<p>In three preseason games, Milton completed 29 of 43 passes for 378 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He added 12 carries for 14 yards and a rushing touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>The Cowboys traded a fifth-round pick to New England for Milton in the 2025 offseason, and he served as Prescott\u2019s backup last season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Cowboys wanted Joe Milton back on the practice squad, and on Wednesday, they made that happen.
